Koy, a sophmore accounting major, not only won the big bucks, he ended up appearing on the evening news after making the impressive prize-winning shot in his favorite pair of slippers.

The half-time contest gave five DePaul students the chance to each win $10,000 if they could sink the half-court shot. During the first half, five students were randomly selected to participate using the Blue Demon app, but it was Koy who shot last that ended up being the night’s big winner.

DePaul University promoted the $50,000 Half-Court Shot Contest on various social media channels in order to increase student attendance at a midweek game between the Blue Demons and the Creighton Blue Jays.

Radio Stations & Roofer Have $10,000 Winner

Cookeville, Tenn. – Congratulations to Lucas Phillips, who recently won $10,000, courtesy of Henry Brother’s Roofing, 106-9 Kicks Country and Lite Rock 95.9, during the Raise the Roof Basketball Contest which took place at halftime during a DeKalb County High School basketball game.  Watch him win!

For the past 8 years the Raise the Roof promotion has given basketball fans the chance to win $10,000 paid for by Odds On, during halftime at selected boy’s high school basketball games.

In order to particpate, contestants registered prior to the game and if they were randomly selected, they got thirty seconds to successfully complete a lay- up, a free throw, a three-pointer and a half-court shot.

This December during halftime at a DeKalb County basketball game, Lucas Phillips took to the court and nailed all four shots before time ran out, winning the $10,000 prize.

According to Phillips, “The best part … was the electric atmosphere. So much joy and excitement from everyone! It’s surreal how God can use you for only 30 seconds to bring everyone together, even from opposite teams in a competitive environment, to celebrate, laugh and just enjoy the moment together. The smiles, the hugs, the high fives, that’s the real payout. So fun and a memory I’ll never forget, so happy it happened in my hometown too!”

According to Taylor Hill Cook, with 106-9 Kicks Country and Lite Rock 95.9, Odds On answered all questions, promptly returned calls and was very easy to work with throughout the claims process.  Are you interested in raising more awareness for your business, team or cause?  Looking for more creative ways to activate a sports sponsorship or connect with sports fans?  Give us a call today at 888-827-2249.

Basketball Shootout Nets Visionary Homes Visibility

Salt Lake City, Utah  – Last basketball season, Visionary Homes, the Official Homebuilder of the Utah Jazz, gave a lucky fan the chance to win a house, paid for by Odds On Promotions, in a Basketball Series Shootout.

Selected at random during a game between the Clippers and the Jazz, Mike Johnson, sporting a fashionable pair of cowboy boots, was all smiles as he prepared for his shot at the prize, which was valued at $450,000.

Johnson had the crowd crowd cheering him on after he successfully made the layup, the free throw, and the three-pointer.  Unfortunately, he ran out of time before completing the half-court shot.  But he took it in stride.    While Johnson didn’t net himself a new home, junior high school student J.J. Franks won $10,000 last Fall, courtesy of Northern Bottling and paid for by Odds On, when he successfully completed a Series Shootout at half-time during a high school  basketball game. Watch him win.

Watch Basketball Fan Make 94-Ft. Putt for a New Car

Newport, Ky. – Congratulations to Bradley Wolfzorn, who won a two-year lease on a new car from Jake Sweeney Automotive, paid for by Odds On Promotions, after sinking an impressive 94-foot, on-court putt at a Northern Kentucky University men’s basketball game in December.

Wolfzorn putting

The on-court putting contest, which is sponsored by Barleycorn’s, gives a randomly selected fan the chance to make a 94-foot putt to score a new ride.

After Wolfzorn was randomly selected at the game, he hit an impressive, fast-moving putt that flew across the BB&T Arena hardwood and through a template placed on the farside of the court.

“The hardwood is so much faster than an actual green, so everything must be in perfect alignment to sink it,” said Joe Heil, Barleycorn’s vice president of operations and longtime NKU Norse basketball sponsor. “This putt had the speed and the accuracy. It was thrilling to watch!”

This was the second winner for NKU and Barleycorn’s insured by Odds On Promotions. Michael Meier of Edgewood, Kentucky won $5,000 for a 94-footer in February of 2020.

Half Court Shot Promotion Winner Scores $10K, Impresses the Pros

Storrs, Conn. – Imagine the pressure of taking a half-court shot at half-time during a big UConn Women’s basketball game. Now imagine making that shot in front of not only Rebecca Lobo, but Kobe Bryant too. Well, that’s exactly what half court shot promotion winner Asher Iglesia, a full-time student at UConn, did last March. Check out Iglesia’s prize-winning shot!

Half Court Shot Promotion Winner - Asher Iglesia

Iglesia, who was a track and field athlete in high school, won the $10,000 courtesy of Wells Fargo, and paid for by Odds On Promotions, in a half-court shot contest that took place during the women’s basketball game at Gampel Pavilion between the UConn Huskies and Houston Cougars.  And, this wasn’t just “any” basketball game – it was the game at which UConn retired the jersey of Rebecca Lobo.

Iglesia learned about the promotion, which was designed as a student sports loyalty reward program, via email. The more games a student attended, the more chances they got to be selected for a chance to make the prize-winning shot.  After nailing the shot from half-court, Iglesia put his track and field skills to the test, running around the court in celebration.
