Congratulations to Roy Lyster of New Westminster, B.C., who recently won $1MM in the Save-On-Foods Million Dollar Touchdown to Win promotion.
Lyster scored the giant cash prize during the July 4th CFL game between the Hamilton Tiger-Cats and the Toronto Argonauts after both Janarion Grant and Isaiah Wooden returned kick-offs for touchdowns.
To participate in the promotion, customers simply scanned their More Rewards cards at any Save-On-Foods store in Western Canada, earning bonus entries based on purchases of participating products.
Anytime a player returns a kick-off for a touchdown, a lucky contestant wins free Groceries for a Year. But, if TWO kick-offs are returned in a single game, a lucky shopper takes home $1MM, paid for by Odds On Promotions.
Since 2019, when Save-On-Foods initiated the contest, 19 loyal customers have taken home free groceries. Lyster, who earned a bonus entry with a bottle of Clamato, is the first million-dollar winner.
According to Heidi Ferriman, senior vice-president of marketing for Save-On-Foods, Lyster is a longtime customer of the grocery chain who shops up to five times a week and is often the first customer in the store every day. “I’m told that Roy has built many great relationships here with the team members and the many managers over the years,” stated Ferriman.
The Save-On-Foods Touchdown to Win promotion runs through the end of the CFL season with lots of free groceries and one more $1MM prize up for grabs.
