Dressing Up Your Promotion: 3 Great Tips

Adding prize insurance to your company’s promotions is a great way to increase foot traffic and generate excitement among your consumers… but that’s just one secret to a successful promotion.

Here at Odds On Promotions, we insure about 18,000 events a year … so trust us when we tell you, we’ve seen it all… from the small non-profit organization that knows how to make a new car drive thousands of dollars in donations, to the successful casino property that knows how to rock a game show.

Part of running a successful promotion includes taking the time to craft effective advertising and create an impactful presentation!

Here are three tips that will help make your next promotion an even bigger success…

1.)  Advertising
A giant prize is more effective when you advertise it!
Running an insured prize promotion?  That’s great!  How do you plan on advertising it?  Whether it’s traditional print advertising, an online banner or website ad, a TV/radio commercial or a direct mail piece,  you have to get the word out!  It may sound basic, but be sure to make your insured grand prize the focal point of the ad — use large and colorful eye-catching print — or if you’re a radio station, make the prize the focal point by emphasizing it in your speech.  And while you’re at it, don’t forget to include important information such as: the date of the promotion (and time, if applicable), location, and any qualifying processes being used… oh, and did we mention — don’t forget the description and value of the prize!

2.)  Visibility
P
rize insurance is designed to drive traffic and make your promotion even more eye-catching … so the last thing you want is customers or contestants trying to figure out where they go to register, participate, or try and figure out where you’re holding the main event!  Make sure your promotion is clearly visible to the public eye.  Your insured promotion is something to take pride in; don’t merely shove it in the corner!

3.)  Presentation
Pay keen attention, because we’ve saved the best for last.  So you’ve adequately advertised your promotion and you’ve made sure to place emphasis on the visibility/location.  Good job!  Now it’s time to theme and decorate your promotion zone! (You weren’t seriously planning on just placing the game board in the middle of your casino floor and walking away, were you? ) Here’s what we we mean by “decorating your promotion zone”.  Let’s say you’re holding a St. Patrick’s Day-themed promotion.  Start by making a custom banner!  Don’t have the time or resources?  Then let us make a custom presentation banner for you!  Next, create a “scene” … Pick up holiday-related trinkets at places like The Dollar Store and adorn the scene of your promotion with life-sized shamrocks and “pots of gold”. Invite your staff to dress up like Leprechauns  – or hire a few “pros” have them interact with those who are qualifying for your promotion!  Work for a bar or pub?  Have the lasses and laddies at your location hand out a pint of Guinness to each lucky qualifier of your promotion!  The possibilities are endless… so get creative!  What kind of environment would get you to keep coming back for future promotions?
