Angler Wins $50K Bass Boat in Tagged Fish Contest

Dadeville, Ala. – Imagine winning $1,000,000 – or a brand-new bass boat – just for doing a little fishing. Just a few short weeks ago, Rufus “Bubba” McNeill won a $50K Skeeter Bass boat, paid for by Odds On Promotions, after he caught a tagged fish during the OGS “Crank for Bank” fishing tournament.

For the second year in a row, OGS Fishing Tournaments gave anglers the chance to win over $1,000,000 in cash and prizes in an innovative 13-week “virtual” tagged fish contest called Crank 4 Bank.

From April 1st until July 4th, anglers could purchase a $100 entry, register on the Fishing Chaos app, and submit photos of the fish they caught on Lake Martin for a chance to win cash and prizes. In addition to winning prizes based on the size of their catch, if an angler caught a tagged fish, they were eligible to win additional prizes if their tag matched one of preselected “lucky” tags.

“It’s our second year doing the event,” explains Vivian Autry, co-owner of OGS. “We tagged 200 fish and if you were registered you got the chance to win a million dollars, a bass boat, a Chevy pickup truck, or $1,500. We’re going to do this next year. But I think we’re going to up the ante a little bit and maybe there might be a $2 million fish floating out there in the water.”

No-Hitter Promotion = $37K for Lucky Fan

Milwaukee, Wisc. – When Carlos Rodón pitched a no-hitter for the Chicago White Sox against the Cleveland Indians this Spring, he wasn’t the only one celebrating. That’s because for a lucky listener of the White Sox flagship station, Chicago’s ESPN 1000, Rodón’s no-hitter meant winning a 2021 Nissan Rogue, courtesy of Nissan, and paid for by Odds On Promotions, as part of a no-hitter promotion.

The contest, which was promoted on-air and via social media, prompted fans to visit the website NissanNoHitter.com to register for a chance to win a Rogue if the White Sox pitched a no-hitter.

On Wednesday, April 14, left-hander Rodón threw the first no-hitter of his career (and came just two outs shy of a perfect game) in an 8-0 win over the Indians, ensuring that one lucky Chicago fan would win a new ride.

That’s when Matthew Serlovsky of Orland Park, Ill. was notified during a live broadcast of the Carmen and Jurko Show that he was the winner of a brand new Rogue.

“Nissan is a powerhouse brand as well as a great partner of ours, and the White Sox have some powerhouse pitching. This no-hitter will go down in history, and now a lucky ESPN 1000 fan will think about it every time they get in their new vehicle,” Good Karma Brands’ Chicago Market Manager, Mike Thomas said.

Having had such great success, Good Karma Brands and Nissan extended their promotion. So, if Rodón or any other White Sox pitcher throws another no-hitter this season, they will be able to giveaway another Nissan… and Odds On will be there to write the check!

Tax Day Promotion $25K Winner

Quincy, Ill. – Congratulations to Tax Day promotion winner Karen Tripp who won $25,000, courtesy of Kunes Country Auto of Quincy, and paid for by Odds On Promotions.

Watch Tripp being awarded with the $25K check!

This April, to promote their Spring Savings Tax Time Tent Event, Kunes Country Auto of Quincy, working in conjunction with PERQ, sent a bar-coded direct mail piece featuring the chance to win a new car valued at $25,000, or $10,000 towards the purchase of any vehicle on the lot, both to be paid for by Odds On Promotions, as well as other enticing prizes provided by the dealership.

Each mailer featured a pull-tab component that indicated what prizes the recipient could win if they brought the barcoded mailer to be scanned at the “Tax Time” sale. Ironically, on April 15th, Tripp, who was considering going to another dealership to take a test drive, decided to go to the Kunes sales event to see if she had won. Once at the dealership, she spoke to a sales team member who scanned her mailer and informed her that she had not only won a prize, but she had won the $25,000 grand prize, insured by Odds On.

Plummer won the big cash prize after he netted the “First Place Big Fish” during the Wallongong Game Fishing Club’s 29th Annual Tournament in September. To be eligible to win the prize, the angler had to land the biggest Mako over 250 kg. Plummer, a member of the Lake Macquarie fishing club, did the job, despite some rather nasty weather, when he landed his monster 310 kg shark with 37 kg tackle, fishing on the boat Big Ed.

The Wollongong tournament is a one-day fishing shootout. A total of 17 boats participated.
