Weather Insurance Coverage Pays Off for Youth Baseball Team

weather insurance coverageLeawood, Kan. – Ever wonder if weather insurance is worth the investment?  Imagine if your golf tournament was an essential part of your annual budget and you woke up to an unseasonably late snowfall.

This May, the Kansas City Royals weren’t the only baseball team that had to cancel a big event thanks to a late season snowstorm. On May 3, 2013, the KC Rays, a travelling youth baseball team, had to cancel their annual golf fundraiser at the Prairie Highlands Golf Course in Olathe, after Winter Storm Achilles delivered an historic amount of late season snow to the Midwest and parts of the South.  The golf event, which raised just over  $7,000 for travel expenses and uniforms, is a critically important part of the team’s annual fundraising efforts.

However, thanks to Odds On Promotions, this cloudy situation ended up having a very silver lining. That’s because the KC Rays had taken out a weather insurance policy to ensure that the bad weather didn’t spoil their entire season. The team’s event was insured for $7,200, which meant that the season wouldn’t be a complete bust.

According to Branden Banks with Haas and Wilkerson, who helped the KC Rays secure their coverage, “This insurance coverage was a huge safety net for the team – there just wouldn’t have been enough time to recoup what the golf tournament generated. Our Odds On Promotions representative, Damien Anderson, kept me posted throughout the claims process. He was great to work with. Having this coverage took the burden off of everyone. The team was very grateful.”

Golf Contests To Be Insured at American Century Championship!

We at Odds On Promotions are happy to announce that we’ll be insuring a series of giant-prize golf contests during the 24th Annual American Century Championship, which will take place July 16-21, 2013 in Lake Tahoe, California.  Even better – one of the golf contests will be filmed by NBC TV for rebroadcast on Sunday, July 21st, 2013, during the actual tournament!

The first golf contest, developed in conjunction with a New York insurance agency, and sponsored by a PR company, will take place prior to the golf tournament, during their “Media Day” event.  The promotion will feature 40 amateurs who will each get two shots to make a hole-in-one from the par 3 17th hole, which measures 155 yards in length.  That’s a total of 80 chances for someone to become a winner!  A winner of what?  How about a cool $25,000 cash, paid for by Odds On Promotions?

But wait, there are even more golf contests…

To kick off the American Century Championship this year, the same  agency, working in conjunction with Korbel, will be insuring a combination hole in one contest and Ball in the Circle contest.  The contest, which will take place on Friday, July 19 will feature a total of 15 amateur golfers who will each get not one chance, but two chances, to hit a golf ball approximately 155 yards and either make a hole-in-one and win $250,000 or have it come to rest within the designated circle winning $25,000.  The contest, which will also take place on the 17th will be broadcast on NBC on Sunday, July 21, during the actual tournament!

Ready for more?   The third golf contest is a 3-day-long Million Dollar Shootout event, taking place July 19th-21st.  80 amateurs and 1 club professional will get a shot, each day, at winning $1,000,000 if they’re able to ace the par 3 17th hole… which will this time, be measured out at 165 yards.  This hole in one insurance policy will be written so that there can be a possibility of two winners, both of which could potentially cash out one million dollars richer the day of their ace.

Have we piqued your interest?  Want to make your next golf tournament a hit by giving players multiple ways to win big without the risk of payout? Want more information on hole in one insurance or Ball in the Circle contest?  Give us a call today at 888-827-2249 for a free, no-obligation quote!  And don’t forget to tune in this July to watch the American Century Championship!

Hockey Contest Worth $25K Car Insured at NHL Game

hockey contest - red line shootoutHey everyone!  Need to put together a hockey contest that’s sure to increase fan excitement, boost sponsor recognition and be a real ‘win’ for all parties involved?  I have just the thing for you — a red line shootout promotion!

What made this specific hockey contest unique, however, was the qualifying aspect.  Fans in attendance were asked to guess how many hockey hats and helmets were contained inside of a vehicle on-site at the game.  The three fans who guessed closest then had the opportunity to come down onto the ice and each make a shot from behind the red line, into a designated target opening.

If any one of the three fans successfully made the shot into the target opening, they would have won the vehicle — a brand new Acura, valued at approximately $25,000 and paid for by Odds On Promotions!  While unfortunately, no one was able to make the shot, there was still a fabulous turn-out and the sponsor definitely received the recognition they deserved!

Basketball Contests Insured at Trade Show Event: $55,000 In Prizes!

basketball contests - a trio at the trade showPlanning on attending an upcoming trade show event?  Looking for a fabulous promotion idea — or better yet, multiple promotion ideas?  Zak Woodhead, Risk Manger with Odds On Promotions, is here to encourage you to check out the basketball contests that this Home Builder & Remodelers Association (HBRA) in the Northeast insured during a trade show event!

During this two-day-long promotion, the HBRA insured a trio of basketball contests: a half court shot contest, a series shootout promotion and a three point thrills contest.

During the half court shot contest, one attendee was selected at random to make a basket from the half court line.  If they ended up shooting and scoring, they would have driven home in style… in a brand new vehicle valued at $35,000, paid for by Odds On!

Another random attendee was selected to participate in a series shootout promotion, in which the lucky attendee got a total of 25 seconds to make a lay-up, a shot from behind the free-throw line, a shot from behind the three-point line and a shot from behind the half-court line.  If all four prize shots were successfully made within the allotted amount of time, then that particular attendee would have been an instant $10,000 winner… again, compliments of Odds On.

Finally, a third attendee was selected to participate in the three-point thrills contest.  The attendee had 25 seconds to make ten shots, five of which were three-pointers, from various locations on the basketball court.  If they succeeded?  Another $10,000… and Odds On would have written the check!

While unfortunately, there were no winners, fun was had by all.  Interested in insuring multiple basketball promotions of your own?  Interested in any other sport(s)?  Give Odds On a call today at 888-827-2249 for a free, no-obligation quote.  You can also email us with any questions you may have!
